This blog is maintained by Carson McDonald. I work for a software development company in Louisville, Ky where I do a wide range of software development and systems administration. I started programming in the late 1980s and professional programming in the late 1997. I created this blog because I seem to continuously think that when I don't find a resource on some topic I should write about it to fill the void.
I am first a software developer and second a sysadmin. Both are fun but if I had to choose one over the other it would be software development. . I started off in the world of sysadmin's at IBM but after graduating from college I moved into software development. Being a sysadmin has always felt more like a hobby and something I like to do because I think it is important for software developers to understand the environments they work in.
If someone asked me what language I use at work I would say Java because it is the language I have done the most work in. I also have years of experience in C and C++. Trailing behind those languages would be everything else: PHP, Ruby/Rails, C#, etc…
